I love that - i have friends who renew their marriage every year. They jump the broom and have been together 25 years...remove the complacency and both folks have to really make things work...or not!
ReplyDeleteWell, the upside is that people don't have to "make" it work. They can let it fall apart, and without the attendant emotional abuse that divorce entails. WIth many states, divorce has to blame someone for the dissolution of the marriage. Even in "no-fault" states, one has to affirm before a court that there is no hope of reconcilliation. But what if you DON'T hate that person? What if you just made a mistake and got in over your heads? This seems like a better solution to me than our current system.
