My hands and brain remember how to sew. I finally realized this last night as I discovered a MAJOR error in a project I'm working on (my first underdress for my first SCA garb). I'd sewn the side skirts on the wrong way on one side.
I hate picking out seams. Since my vision has gone to hell in a handbasket without waiting for the rest of me, seam picking is a disaster. I end up tearing the cloth & making a mess. So, I did what any self respecting crafter would do last night. I improvised. Slashed the arms off, slashed the shoulders and turned one piece around. POOF right sides facing.
I'm now at the "sew it all back together" stage. Shoulders are sewn back together. One arm is on. the other halfway on. Today will be finishing that arm, attaching the neck facings and sewing the side seams. Hemming soon. Then it is done.
It isn't pretty. I can see places to do better next time. It IS an identifiable garment.
For now, for a while, my sewing is back.
You have no idea how good this feels.
