Who Knew

I can dance. As in I have rythm, and actually feel graceful!

Nick & I started ballroom dancing lessons last Sunday. The first lesson was a DISASTER. Neither one of us were getting it. He was convinced I was leading, I was convinced he was full of it, and we both walked out angry at the end of the lesson.

Then we cooled off, and talked about what actually happened.

He was taking long sweeping strides.
I have short legs, and therefore had to take multiple steps to his one.
This was throwing his rythm off, and gave the illusion of my trying to lead.

Practicing in the basement, he shortened his stride, and we got it. It was even fun. Of course, we both agree that the music shoices the instructor picked were icky (we aren't Frank Sinatra fans), but having music we like (Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, KD Lang, & Mancini) helped. By the end of practice last night we wereboth smiling, and dancing through the mistakes. :D

On a totally different note, I have to take a new pic for my profile. I got the black taken out of my hair. Its Brown brown BROWN again.

  1. So where is the new picture! I am excessively envious of your developing floatie dancing prowess. I still have all the grace of a fantasia hippo in a tutu. I have contentedly come to terms with the fact that i am what i am ... as graceful as a hefalump on wheelies. Its all good!

Can't wait to see the new picture!
